Neurobiology of Drosophila
October 7 - 11, 2025
Abstract Deadline: July 21, 2025

Organizers:

Adrian Moore, RIKEN Center for Brain Science, Japan
Pelin Volkan, Duke University

We are pleased to announce the twenty-first biennial Neurobiology of Drosophila meeting, which will be held at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. The meeting will begin at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, October 7, and will conclude after lunch on Saturday, October 11. This year’s meeting will continue the bi-annual tradition of providing a forum for the presentation of the most exciting and cutting-edge research currently ongoing in the field of neuroscience using the Drosophila model. With sessions ranging from synaptic transmission and neuronal development all the way to higher brain function and disease modeling, the program will provide broad coverage of the field from molecular to systems neuroscience. In addition, sessions focusing on technological innovations will supplement the program, allowing for the dissemination of new methods that are revolutionizing neuroscience research.

Topics

  • Neurological Disease and Injury
  • Neurodevelopment
  • Circuits and Behavior
  • Sensory Modalities
  • Synaptic Transmission and Plasticity
  • Circadian Rhythms
  • Technological Innovations
  • Cell Biology of the Neuron
  • Neuromics (Connectomics and Cell Types)

Keynote Benzer Lecture:
TBA

Please bring this notice to the attention of any of your colleagues who may be interested in participating in the meeting.

All abstracts must be submitted by the abstract deadline. Late registrations may be accepted after the abstract deadline if the meeting is not oversubscribed. In the event of over-subscription, every effort will be made to ensure that all groups who wish to participate will be represented. The status (talk/poster) of abstracts will be posted on our website as soon as decisions have been made by the organizers.

We are eager to have as many young people as possible attend since they are likely to benefit most from this meeting. We have applied for funds from the government and industry to partially support graduate students and postdocs. Please apply in writing via email to Kelley McGrath and state your financial needs; preference will be given to those who submit abstracts.

Nominate your student(s) for the 2025 Elkins Memorial Lecture Award - Graduate students working in any area of Drosophila neurobiology are eligible. Suitable candidates should be nominated by their thesis advisor on the basis of work that was carried out or completed since the last Cold Spring Harbor meeting in October 2021. The nomination letter outlining the qualifications of the candidate and the significance of the research, a C.V., and PDFs of relevant reprints or manuscripts should be submitted electronically to Dr. J. Troy Littleton by July 12, 2025.
