The current COVID-19 situation is challenging and difficult for all of us - we hope this virtual conference will allow colleagues to share and discuss their latest research, while under travel and stay-at-home restrictions.

We are pleased to announce the twelfth Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory meeting, Plant Genomes Systems Biology and Engineering, which will begin on the evening of Wednesday, December 1, 2021, and conclude on Friday, December 3. Abstracts should contain new and unpublished material. Selection of material for oral and poster presentation will be made by the organizers and individual session chairs.

All abstracts must be submitted by the abstract deadline. Late registrations may be accepted after the abstract deadline if the meeting is not oversubscribed. In the event of over-subscription, every effort will be made to ensure that all groups who wish to participate will be represented. The status (talk/poster) of abstracts will be posted on our web site as soon as decisions have been made by the organizers.

We are eager to have as many young people as possible attend since they are likely to benefit most from this meeting. We have applied for funds from government and industry to partially support graduate students and postdocs. Please apply in writing via email to Val Pakaluk and state your financial needs; preference will be given to those who submit abstracts.

Presenters: Individuals submitting abstracts and facing financial barriers should firstly request financial aid (see above). Permission to present your talk or poster virtually will be given only in exceptional circumstances and on a case-by-case basis. If you think you are eligible for an exemption from the requirement to present in person, please provide a justification in writing via email to Val  Pakaluk.

Non-presenting participants: We plan to broaden access to the conference by allowing certain categories of non-presenting participants to attend virtually at reduced fees. Categories include: 
1. Additional members of individual laboratories (4th or more lab member) - PI must supply list of lab members via email to Val Pakaluk.
2. Individuals from low & middle income countries; 
3. Individuals from non-LMIC countries in Asia, Australasia, Africa or South America; 
4. Individuals from US & Canadian minority serving institutions; 
5. Individuals with a demonstrable financial barrier; 
6. Individuals with family obligations or other special circumstances.
