PLANT GENOMES & BIOTECHNOLOGY: FROM GENES TO NETWORKS

We are pleased to announce the ninth Cold Spring Harbor winter conference this year which will begin on Wednesday evening, December 2, 2015 and end at noon on Saturday, December 5. The aims of this meeting are to review progress in genomics-enabled analyses of the major plant groups and their enemies under the motto "Plant Genomics:What's Next?", with topics ranging from biodiversity and epigenetics to new approaches to plant breeding including genetical genomics and synthetic biology, to next-generation cell biology. The conference will feature a mix of invited speakers drawn from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences.
The format of the meeting will include six oral sessions and one poster session. Each oral session will include invited speakers and speakers selected from submitted abstracts. For this reason, abstracts from accomplished junior and senior investigators are warmly invited.

Free Half-day workshop on bioinformatics tools for Genomics
On Wednesday December 2nd (1-4PM) A half-dayworkshop will be sponsored by iPlant Collaborative. The workshop willcover a variety of free bioinformatics tools and resources for dealing withgenome datasets. Abstracts should contain new and unpublished material. Selection of material for oral and poster presentation will be made by the organizers and individual session chairs. Status (talk/poster) of abstracts will be posted on our website as soon as decisions have been made by the organizers. Please bring this notice to the attention of any of your colleagues who may be interested.
Thanks to funding from the National Science Foundation we have funds to partially support students and postdocs submitting abstracts from US labs. Young scientists from other countries may be eligible for limited industry support. Please apply in writing to Val Pakaluk stating need for financial support.
