Organizers:
Hollis Cline, The Scripps Research Institute

Richard Huganir, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine/HHMI
Thomas Sudhof, Stanford University School of Medicine/HHMI

We are pleased to announce a fourth meeting on Synapses: From Molecules to Circuits & Behavior, which will be held at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, New York. The meeting will begin at 7:30pm on Tuesday, April 14, and will conclude with lunch on Saturday, April 18, 2009. The proposed meeting will assemble the leaders in the field, together with junior faculty, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students, to discuss new, cutting-edge developments in the molecular control of neuronal excitability and synapse function.

Keynote Speakers:
Cori Bargmann, The Rockefeller University
Clay Reid, Harvard Medical School

Session Topics and Co-Chairs:
Diseases of Synapses and Circuits
Ulrike Heberlein and Christopher Walsh

Ion Channels, Receptors & Transporters
Ardem Patapoutian and Eric Gouaux

Synaptic Function
Harvey McMahon and Yishi Jin

Synaptic Plasticity
Pablo Castillo and Lu Chen

Imaging Synaptic Structure & Function
Gero Miesenboeck and Ryohei Yasuda

Imaging Neuronal Circuits
Ann-Shyn Chiang and Joseph Fetcho

Neuronal & Circuit Plasticity
Florian Engert and Liqun Luo

Behavioral Plasticity
David Anderson and Joseph Tsien

The format of the meeting will include eight oral sessions and two poster sessions. Each oral session will include invited speakers and speakers selected from submitted abstracts. For this reason, abstracts from accomplished junior and senior investigators are warmly invited. As usual at Cold Spring Harbor meetings, abstracts of both poster and platform sessions will be published in an abstract book. The abstracts should focus on new and unpublished data. The organizers will select abstracts for oral or poster presentations. The status (talk/poster) of abstracts will be posted on our web site (below) as soon as decisions have been made.

We hope to see you at Cold Spring Harbor in April.
