We are pleased to announce the 2008 Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory/ Wellcome Trust conference on Rat Genomics & Models. Building upon the strength of the previous biennial CSHL meetings held in since 1999, this conference will continue to address the uses of the rat in genetics, genomics and disease models. The 2008 conference will be held at the Wellcome Trust Conference Centre on the Wellcome Trust Genome Campus in Hinxton, UK. The meeting will begin in the afternoon (3 pm) of Wednesday December 3, 2008, and end with a banquet in the evening on Saturday, December 6, with departure on Sunday morning.

We are looking forward to a broad-based meeting, and abstracts are welcomed on all scientific topics related to rat genetics, genomics and physiology. The format of the meeting will include oral sessions consisting of invited and short talks, limited to approximately 15 minutes, principally on unpublished work. Oral presentations will be selected by the organizers from the submitted abstracts. The other submitted abstracts will be presented in poster session(s). As is usual at Cold Spring Harbor meetings, all abstracts of both poster and platform sessions will be published in an abstract book given to all the participants.

Abstracts should contain only new and unpublished material and must be submitted electronically by the abstract deadline. Selection of material for oral and poster presentation will be made by the organizers and individual session chairs. Status (talk/poster) of abstracts will be posted on our web site as soon as decisions have been made by the organizers.

We are eager to have as many young people as possible attend since they are likely to particularly benefit from this meeting. All registrations and abstracts MUST be submitted by the abstract deadline, September 10 , 2008.
