EUKARYOTIC mRNA PROCESSING
August 18- 22, 2009
Abstract Deadline: June 5, 2009

Organizers:
Douglas Black, HHMI/University of California Los Angeles
Lynne Maquat, University of Rochester Medical Center
Joan Steitz, HHMI/Yale University School of Medicine

We are pleased to host the seventh Cold Spring Harbor meeting on Eukaryotic mRNA Processing, which will begin at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, August 18 and run through lunch on Saturday, August 22, 2009. The meeting will focus on the mechanisms and regulation of mRNA splicing, polyadenylation, turnover, localization and RNA interference. It will include all aspects mRNA transport, processing and control, including microRNA function. The meeting is intended to provide a format for the exchange of ideas and information, to discuss the latest research findings and technical advances, and to facilitate interaction amongst groups active in diverse systems.

Sessions Include:

• Splicing Mechanisms

Beate Schwer, Cornell University

• RNA Transport and Localization
Anita Corbett, Emory University

• RNA 3' End Maturation
Steve Buratowski, Harvard Medical School

• Regulation of Alternative Splicing I
Juan Valcarcel, CRG Barcelona, Spain

• Regulation of Alternative Splicing II
Xiang-Dong Fu, UCSD

• Genomewide Analysis of RNA Processing
Benjamin Blencowe, University of Toronto, Canada

• Coupling of Transcription to RNA Processing
Karla Neugebauer, Max Planck Institute Dresden, Germany

• mRNA Decay
Hervé Le Hir, CNRS Gif sur Yvette, France

Abstracts should contain only new and unpublished material and must be submitted electronically by the abstract deadline. Selection of material for oral and poster presentation will be made by the organizers and individual session chairs. Status (talk/poster) of abstracts will be posted on our web site as soon as decisions have been made by the organizers.

We are eager to have as many young people as possible attend and we have applied for funds from government and industry to partially support graduate students and postdocs. Apply in writing to meetings@cshl.edu stating need for financial support - preference is given to those submitting abstracts.

We look forward to seeing you at Cold Spring Harbor in August.

This conference is supported in part by funds provided by:
