EUKARYOTIC mRNA PROCESSING
August 22 - 26, 2007
Abstract Deadline: June 6, 2007
(extended because of RNA Society meeting)

Organizers:
Douglas Black, HHMI/University of California Los Angeles
Timothy Nilsen, Case Western Reserve University
Joan Steitz, HHMI/Yale University School of Medicine

We are pleased to host the sixth Cold Spring Harbor meeting on Eukaryotic mRNA Processing, which will begin at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, August 22 and run through lunch on Sunday, August 26, 2007. The meeting will focus on the mechanisms and regulation of mRNA splicing, polyadenylation, turnover, localization and RNA interference. It will include all aspects mRNA transport, processing and control, including microRNA function. The meeting is intended to provide a format for the exchange of ideas and information, to discuss the latest research findings and technical advances, and to facilitate interaction amongst groups active in diverse systems.

Sessions & Discussion Leaders

• RNA Transport & Localization

Karsten Weis, University of California Berkeley
• Splicing Mechanisms
Charles Query, Albert Einstein College of Medicine
• 3’ end Maturation
Claire Moore, Tufts University
• Coupling of RNA Processing to Transcription
Alberto Kornblihtt, University of Buenos Aires, Argentina
• Regulation of Alternative RNA Processing Patterns I
Kristen Lynch, UT Southwestern Medical Center
• Regulation of Alternative RNA Processing Patterns II
Javier Caceres, MRC Human Genetics Unit
• RNA Decay & RNA Surveillance
Jens Lykke-Andersen, University of Colorado
• Global & Genome-Wide Approaches to mRNA Processing Analysis
Chris Burge, MIT

Abstracts should contain only new and unpublished material and must be submitted electronically by the abstract deadline. Selection of material for oral and poster presentation will be made by the organizers and individual session chairs. Status (talk/poster) of abstracts will be posted on our web site as soon as decisions have been made by the organizers.

We are eager to have as many young people as possible attend and we have applied for funds from government and industry to partially support graduate students and postdocs. Apply in writing to meetings@cshl.edu stating need for financial support - preference is given to those submitting abstracts.

We look forward to seeing you at Cold Spring Harbor in August.
