Past
program
You are cordially invited to participate in the sixty-first meeting
on Molecular Genetics of Bacteria & Phages
which will be held at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. The meeting
will begin on Tuesday, August 24, 2010, and will conclude with
lunch on Saturday, August 28.
The specific goal of this meeting is to bring together a group
of scientists studying diverse aspects of prokaryotic biology
using the tools of molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry,
and structure analysis. The meeting is intended to provide a forum
for the exchange of ideas and information and to discuss the latest
research findings and technical advances. We encourage the submission
of abstracts covering diverse topics and under-repesented organisms
and particularly encourage junior investigators to present their
results at the meeting.
The format of the meeting will include morning and evening sessions,
selected from the abstracts, principally on unpublished work.
In addition, there will be two poster sessions, held in the afternoons.
The organizers will decide the suitability of each abstract for
oral or poster presentation, but please specify if you prefer
a poster.
Keynote:
Susan
Gottesman, National Institutes of Health
T entative Topics:
Molecular
Evolution, Systems Biology & Genomics
Development, Cell Signalling & Cell-Cell Interactions
Mechanism & Regulation of Transcription
Bacterial Metabolism & Physiology

Rob Britton, Michigan State University
Gail Christie, Virginia Commonwealth University
Michelle
Giglio, University of Maryland School of Medicine
Ann
Hochschild, Harvard Medical School
Michael
Laub, MIT
David Rudner, Harvard Medical School
Alan Wolfe, Loyola University

Abstracts
should contain only new and unpublished material and
must be submitted electronically by the abstract deadline. Selection
of material for oral and poster presentation will be made by the
organizers and individual session chairs. Status (talk/poster)
of abstracts will be posted on our web site as soon as decisions
have been made by the organizers.
We are eager to have as many young people as possible attend since
they are likely to benefit most from this meeting. We have applied
for funds from government and industry to partially support graduate
students and postdocs. Apply in writing to stephens@cshl.edu
stating need for financial support - preference is given to those
submitting abstracts.
All questions pertaining to registration, fees, housing, meals,
transportation, visas, abstract submission or any other matters
may be directed to stephens@cshl.edu
We
look forward to seeing you at Cold Spring Harbor in August.
We
anticipate that this conference will be supported in part by:
National
Science Foundation
We
have funds to provide partial scholarships for individuals who
are US citizens/permanent residents from minority groups
under-represented in the life sciences. Please provide
justification in writing to stephens@cshl.edu
and state your financial needs. Preference will be given to those
applying who submit abstracts to the meeting.
