Abstract Deadline: August 7, 2009
Organizers:
Marie Hardwick, Johns Hopkins University

Junying Yuan, Harvard Medical School

We are pleased to announce the eighthmeeting on Cell Death, to be held at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory from Tuesday evening October 6th till after lunch on Saturday, October 10th, 2009. The meeting will cover the field of cell death and apoptosis by specific sessions devoted to the topics listed below.

The format of the meeting will include morning and evening sessions consisting of short talks, limited to approximately 15 minutes, principally on unpublished work. Because the audience will be composed of investigators with rather diverse backgrounds, the session chairs will anchor each session with a 20 minute talk to provide an overview of the specific area. The other submitted abstracts will be presented in poster sessions in the free afternoons. As usual at Cold Spring Harbor Meetings, all abstracts of both poster and platform sessions will be published in an abstract book given to all the participants.

Topics Include:
Developmental cell death – organismal and immunological
Autophagy, apoptosis, necrosis and other death pathways
Disease mechanisms and therapeutic strategies
Metabolism at the interface of death and survival
Structural and biochemical details of cell death
Cell death signaling pathways–experimental & systems biology
Mitochondrial dynamics and function
Non-canonical death factor mechanisms in the nervous system
Cancer cell death mechanisms – bench to bedside
