MEETING REGISTRATION
The First Galaxy Developer Conference
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory May 15-17, 2010
In the past several years Galaxy has emerged as a powerful solution for informatics challenges of modern data-rich biology. It allows complex, large scale analyses by linking diverse tools and data sources in a single web-based interface supported by dynamically scalable computational resources. The functionality of the Galaxy system is even more important today when increasingly available and inexpensive high-throughput DNA sequencing holds great promise for biomedical research, but informatics challenges block the full realization of the potential of this transformative technology. The goal of the Conference is to introduce developers of analysis tools, bioinformatics staff, and IT managers of sequencing facilities to the following features of the Galaxy framework:
- tool integration and distributed job management
- deployment of private Galaxy instances on local resources and on the Cloud
- management of large datasets with the Galaxy Library System
- using the Galaxy LIMS functionality for managing sample submission at NGS sequencing facilities
