We are pleased to announce the third Cold Spring Harbor winter
conference on Neuronal Circuits, which will begin
at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, March 10 and run through lunch on Saturday,
March 13, 2010.
A comprehensive description of neuronal circuitry, an old dream
of neuroscientists, is about to become a reality with recent technological
advances. As these advances have been made in different model
organisms and systems, there is a need for a forum where neuroscientists
studying various neuronal circuits could exchange ideas. This
CSHL meeting will allow for neuroscientists working on neuronal
circuits in a wide range of model organisms, from invertebrates
to mammals, to come together and discuss their research. Contributions
from research centered on neuronal circuits involving anatomical,
physiological, theoretical and behavioral approaches will be encouraged.
Topics
covered by the meeting include but are not limited to:
· Chemical senses
·
Visual system
· Circuits underlying cortical function
· Motor control
· New methods for investigating structure & function
of circuits
Invited
speakers (confirmed):
Larry Abbott, Columbia University
Richard Axel, Columbia University
Axel Borst, MPI Martinsried, Germany
Srikanth Chalasani, Salk Institute of Biological Sciences
Karl Disseroth, Stanford University
Marla Feller, UC Berkeley
Joe Fetcho, Cornell University

Shaul Hestrin, Stanford University
Shawn Lockery, University of Oregon
Liqun Luo, Stanford University
Jeff Magee, HHMI
Janelia Farm Research Campus
Ian Meinertzhagen, Dalhousie University, Canada
Markus Meister, Harvard University
May-Brit Moser, Norwegian University of Science & Technology
Mike Nusbaum, University of Pennsylvannia
Sebastian Seung, MIT
David Tank, Princeton University
Rachel Wilson, Harvard University
Abstracts
are welcomed on all scientific topics related to the structure
or function of neuronal circuits. They should contain only new
and unpublished material and must be submitted electronically
by the abstract deadline. Selection of material for oral and poster
presentation will be made by the organizers and individual session
chairs. Status (talk/poster) of abstracts will be posted on our
web site as soon as decisions have been made by the organizers.
We
are eager to have as many young people as possible to attend since
they are likely to benefit most from this meeting. We have applied
for funds from government and industry to partially support graduate
students and postdocs. Apply in writing to stephens@cshl.edu
stating need for financial support - preference is given to those
submitting abstracts.
All questions pertaining to registration, fees, housing, meals,
transportation, visas, abstract submission or any other matters
may be directed to stephens@cshl.edu
We
look forward to seeing you at Cold Spring Harbor in March.
