JOINT CSHL/WELLCOME TRUST MEETINGS

Directions for Wellcome Trust Genome Campus
            & Wellcome Trust Conference Center

Current Local Weather

Yahoo Weather: Cambridge
    BBC Weather

The Wellcome Trust Genome Campus is located 10 miles/25 minutes drive south of central Cambridge close to the M11 motorway and the main train lines linking London to Cambridge. However note that taxis to Hinxton tend to be expensive - more economical public transportation to Hinxton from major airports or London requires a multi-part journey involving tube/train or bus and then bus or taxi.

Directions by Road

By car from the South: Leave the M11 at junction 9 and take the A1301 towards Cambridge. From the Stumps Cross roundabout system take the first left (about 800m). At the next small roundabout follow the signpost for 'Genome Campus'

By car from the North: Leave the M11 at junction 10 (note that M11 junction 9 is restricted and only accessible from the South). Travel a mile or so (straight on at the first small roundabout) on the A505 in the direction of Saffron Walden. At the second roundabout take the third exit (signed A1301 towards Saffron Walden). Pass two turnings to Hinxton (these go to the village only), and take the next right, at a small roundabout, signposted to the Genome Campus. (see maps below)

Travel from Cambridge, London or Stansted Airport

By train/taxi: Closest local station to Hinxton with a taxi rank service is Audley End station (four miles south of Hinxton) on the London Liverpool Street to Cambridge line. Journey times to Audley End from London (1 hour) and Stansted Airport (12 min). Timetables available from National Rail. Taxis from Audley End to Hinxton are about £20

Travel from Heathrow / Gatwick Airports

National Express Coach Lines provides direct service from major airports (Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted as well as London, Manchester etc ) to the Drummer Street Bus Station in Cambridge [timetables/fares] You can then take a taxi (£20-25 one way as of Sep '07).

If you chose to go by rail via London from Heathrow or Gatwick:

Heathrow Terminal 1,2 or 3: Take the Heathrow Express to Paddington, then the tube to Liverpool Street and the train to Audley End
Heathrow Terminal 4: Take the tube to Liverpool Street and the train to Audley End
Gatwick: Take the Kings Cross Thameslink to Kings Cross and train to Cambridge OR tube to Liverpool Street and the train to Audley End.

Quick Reference: Recommended routes

From Cambridge: taxi to Hinxton
