Extended Abstract Deadline: February 8, 2006

Organizers:
Richard Huganir, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine/HHMI
Lily Jan, University of California, San Francisco/HHMI
Morgan Sheng, Massachusetts Institute of Technology/HHMI

We are pleased to announce a ll second meeting on Channels, Receptors & Synapses, which will be held at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, New York. The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18th, and will conclude with lunch on Saturday, April 22nd, 2006. The proposed meeting will assemble the leaders in the field, together with junior faculty, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students, to discuss new, cutting-edge developments in the molecular control of neuronal excitability and synapse function.

Keynote Speakers:
Rob Malenka (Stanford University)
Tom Sudhof (University of Texas Southwestern, Dallas)

Topics and Chairs:
Presynaptic Function
Pietro DeCamilli (Yale University)

Synapse Formation
Ann Marie Craig (University British Columbia)

Modulation of Channel and Receptor Function
Irwin Levitan (University of Pennsylvania)

Neuronal Signaling Mechanisms
Mike Greenberg (Harvard University)

Synaptic and Non-Synaptic Plasticity
David Linden (Johns Hopkins University)

Synaptic Plasticity and Development
Holly Cline (CSHL)

Synaptic Plasticity and Behavior
Alcino Silva (UCLA)

Diseases of Channels, Receptors and Synapses
Louis Ptacek (UCSF)

The format of the meeting will include eight oral sessions and two poster sessions. Each oral session will include invited speakers and speakers selected from submitted abstracts. For this reason, abstracts from accomplished junior and senior investigators are warmly invited. As usual at Cold Spring Harbor meetings, abstracts of both poster and platform sessions will be published in an abstract book. The abstracts should focus on new and unpublished data. The organizers will select abstracts for oral or poster presentations. The status (talk/poster) of abstracts will be posted on our web site (below) as soon as decisions have been made. We have applied for funds from government and industry to partially support graduate students and postdocs.

We hope to see you at Cold Spring Harbor in April.
