You are cordially invited to participate in the fifty-ninth meeting
on Molecular Genetics of Bacteria & Phages which will be held
at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. The regular meeting will begin
on Tuesday, August 22, 2006, and will conclude on Saturday August
26 after lunch (Saturday afternoon, evening and Sunday morning
will be devoted to a special celebration for the Max Delbruck
centennial).
The specific goal of this meeting is to bring together a group
of scientists studying diverse aspects of prokaryotic biology
using the tools of molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry,
and structure analysis. The meeting is intended to provide a forum
for the exchange of ideas and information and to discuss the latest
research findings and technical advances. We encourage the submission
of abstracts covering diverse topics and under-repesented organisms
and particularly encourage junior investigators to present their
results at the meeting.
The format of the meeting will include morning and evening sessions,
selected from the abstracts, principally on unpublished work.
In addition, there will be two poster sessions, held in the afternoons.
The organizers will decide the suitability of each abstract for
oral or poster presentation, but please specify if you prefer
a poster.

Abstracts
should contain only new and unpublished material and
must be submitted electronically by the abstract deadline. Selection
of material for oral and poster presentation will be made by the
organizers and individual session chairs. Status (talk/poster)
of abstracts will be posted on our web site as soon as decisions
have been made by the organizers.
We are eager to have as many young people as possible attend since
they are likely to benefit most from this meeting. We have applied
for funds from government and industry to partially support graduate
students and postdocs. Apply in writing to meetings@cshl.edu
stating need for financial support - preference is given to those
submitting abstracts.
We
look forward to seeing you at Cold Spring Harbor in August.
